About DCAC:

The Disaster Contracting Assistance Center provides a central point of reference for businesses, especially minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses and small- and medium-size enterprises, to register for and become aware of federal contracting opportunities. While the DCAC does not award contracts, our mission is to ensure that businesses understand the process and are aware when opportunities become available.

On October 11, 2005, Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez unveiled the Disaster Contracting Assistance Center (DCAC) to assist U.S. businesses, especially minority and small businesses, in participating in the Gulf Coast rebuilding efforts.

Advise businesses on how to obtain their North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code.
Advise businesses on how to obtain a Dunn & Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System
(D-U-N-S) Code.
Assist registering at the Central Contractor Registration website.
Assist registering with Federal Business Opportunities (fedbizopps) for email alerts on contracting opportunities.
Advise of individuals to contact for further assistance.

To begin the contracting process, follow these steps:

Contractor Registration: Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the primary vendor database for the U.S. Federal Government, managed by the General Services Administration. Registration in CCR is required in order to be eligible for government contracts.

Step 3

Contract Alerts: FedBizOpps, managed by the General Services Administration, allows businesses to sign up for e-mail notification of open contracts related to specified fields. Commercial vendors can also search, monitor and retrieve opportunities solicited by the entire Federal contracting community.
